Goal

The primary objective of UPWORK is to improve the working life, as well as the social inclusion of people with special needs (SN), in particular, those with cognitive constraints (those with mental challenges – people diagnosed with the autism spectrum, slow learners, those suffering from depression, the long-term unemployed in the periphery of the labour market), by promoting their acquisition of skills that may be used in hospitality sector.

Objectives

  • To improve the capacity of professionals working with people with special needs (SN) to engage the SN population in training activities connected to events management and the hotel and restaurant sector.
  • To develop a digital curriculum for trainers of SN people involved in events management and the hotel and restaurant sector.
  • To involve SNs in pilot activities that permit partners to experiment with the effectiveness of UPWORK methods.
  • To establish a skills recognition and certification system based on open badges and micro-credentials.
  • To engage the business community, encouraging them to actively support the social inclusion of SN learners in the job market.
